Job Summary/Objective:
Under the direction of the Manager of Engineering, the Electrical Engineer II troubleshoots and resolves malfunctions to machine control systems and makes recommendations to improve efficiency or quality concerns.
Key Responsibilities:
*Electrical/Electronic Product Engineer is responsible for designing and creating electrical/electronic hardware and firmware of commercial products based on product specifications. Candidates must be able to take product from concept, prototype, test to manufacturing and provide life cycle support.
* Develop circuits for circuit protection, GFCI, ELCI, lighting, transfer switches and other products.
* Develop firmware for products such as AC power monitors.
* Develop design specifications and derived requirements based on applicable regulatory agencies and customer requirements.
* Create and perform verification tests based on product requirements and regulatory agency requirements such as UL, IEC, and FCC.
* Balance design based on cost, requirements, and time to market.
* Create manufacturing in-process test requirements and test sets as required.
* Prepare and maintain documentation and use configuration management system for keeping records of schematics, test results, changes, etc.
* Perform and participate in DFMEA.
* Follow engineering processes.
* Support product through lifecycle and supply chain issues.
* Perform design reviews and product cost out analysis.
Electrical/Electronic Product Engineer Requirements:
* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years experience or MSEE with 2+ years experience.
* Fluent in design, prototyping, debugging, testing, and bringing products to manufacturing.
* Proficient use of circuit simulation software and schematic/layout software, such as Altium Designer.
* Proficient in C programming.
* Working knowledge of UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, etc.
* Experience designing to meet UL listing requirements.
* Some knowledge of Bluetooth and other wireless communication.
* Some knowledge of Electrical codes and wiring diagrams.
* Able to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
* Able to work sitting in front of a computer for long hours at a time.
* Experience in power electronics and VFDs is a plus.
Teamwork
* Must work well within an interdisciplinary team consisting of mechanical, manufacturing, quality and other Engineers.
Creative thinking
* Candidates must think creatively to identify which components or designs would work best to construct the product while maintaining cost-effective measures that benefit the company.
Interpersonal communication
* Candidates must be able to effectively communicate with engineering professionals and with other non-engineering personnel and groups.
