Job Summary
Coordinates system development and implementation tasks to include design, integration and formal testing of newly implemented and upgraded systems. Oversees all transitions of new or upgraded systems into production status. Develops and completes actions in system specifications, technical and logistical requirements, and other disciplines. Creates and oversees the maintenance of programmatic and technical documentation to insure efficient planning, maintenance and execution of processes and procedures. Manage and document system configurations and assist in the creation of and update to an agency-based solutions roadmap. Actively resolve, or assist in the resolution of, daily support requests as needed.
What you will do
- Provide oversight of data center compute, storage systems and supporting infrastructure including the installation, configuring, testing and maintenance of operating systems, application software and system management tools, for both on premise and cloud-based environments
- Coordinate the maintenance of an as-built, system operations library with daily monitoring, operating and maintenance procedures – which utilize industry best practices, industry accepted operating frameworks and develop resultant agency best practices and ongoing review schedules.
- Maintain a knowledge of current and evolving technologies to provide guidance towards the development, implementation and maintenance of an agency-based technology roadmap
- Continual maintenance of security solutions and procedures, including the operational strategies related to backup, redundancy, disaster recovery and business continuity
- Communicate, as a liaison, with vendors and other IT personnel to resolve issues, coordinate upgrades, evaluate and implement new solutions
- Competency in writing and maintaining custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower downtime due to required human intervention
- Collaborate with other MNPS teams and outside agencies to help design information and operational support systems to help meet and maintain district technology goals
- Create technical, training and reference documents as required
- Attend meetings and working sessions as required
- Provide tier III (tier II as needed) technical support to other Technology Services Department staff
Education Qualifications
- BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject; or equivalent combination of relevant on the job experience and post-secondary training
Experience Qualifications
- Minimum five years as a systems administrator or IT systems engineer in a medium to large corporate environment Required

- Strong coordination, organization, teaming and communication abilities.
- Works well individually or in a group setting. Effectively directs employees.
- Successfully presents technical information in both a technical and non-technical manner.
Starting At: $94,894.63
Salaries are determined by factors relevant to the position which may include education, experience, and other qualifications. Final compensation decisions are made at the discretion of MNPS in alignment with organizational policies and procedures. The stated salary range for certificated teaching positions is calculated based on 201 days and should be viewed as a reference. All provided salary ranges serve as a general guideline.
