Job Requirements
position SUMMARY
The Engineering Manager is a critical member of the Information Technology (IT) leadership team and will design, implementation, and support of their technical domain to match the IT organization’s strategy and roadmap. The Engineering Manager oversees a diverse team of highly technical engineers as they work to accomplish organizational goals. The Engineering Manager role will leverage strong technical expertise, as well as work with the IT, clinical, and corporate leadership to align priorities to key business objectives. The Engineering Manager will work closely with business and IT teams to proactively support the needs of Health First’s Integrated Delivery Network (IDN). In addition to supporting Health Firsts’ policies and strategies, The Engineering Manager prioritizes work efforts, balancing operational tasks with longer-term strategic efforts.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITES
1. Advises and coordinates the implementation and operation of technical controls to support secure and mature engineering processes.
2. Establishes annual and long-range technical domain goals, define strategies and roadmaps, metrics, reporting mechanisms and program services; and create maturity models and a roadmap for continual program improvements In partnership with senior IT Leadership.
3. Evaluates, procures, and integrates new solutions into the overall environment, as determined by business, regulatory and market demands and will ensure these technologies and services align with Health First strategic principles and policy guidelines.
4. Analyzes and provides recommendations on technological solutions based upon organizational needs and objectives.
LEADERSHIP ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Define and communicate a clear, compelling vision for the team that effectively ties into the mission and vision of Health First, and inspirationally lead the team to achieve that vision.
2. Provide leadership, motivation, coaching, feedback and support to foster and strengthen growth and development of an effective, high performing team.
3. Lead change through effective communication, explaining the connection and value to the organization, creating stronger buy-in and urgency, while understanding impact to the team to obtain commitment.
4. Demonstrate openness to hearing diverse ideas and thoughts; create a sense of inclusivity; and encourage collaboration across teams to help break down silos to meet the team’s and organization’s goals.
5. Recruit, select, grow, and retain highly engaged, high performing diverse and inclusive associates.
6.Contribute to and support the strategic direction, and demonstrate financial acumen, for areas of responsibility and organization.
Work experience
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- education: Masters’s degree in relevant field.
- Work Experience: Three (3) years’ experience in IT with at least one (1) of those years progressive leadership experience.
- Licensure: None
- Certification: Advance IT Certification (e.g., Technical, LEAN, Project Management/Agile) within twelve (12) months of start date and maintained.
- Work Experience In Lieu of Education: Any one of the following:
o Bachelor’s degree: Additional two (2) years’ experience in IT with at least one (1) year of progressive leadership experience. o Associate’s degree: Additional three (3) years’ experience in IT with at least one (1) year of progressive leadership experience.
- Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
o Ability to perform systemic, thorough problem solving and initiate problem resolution.
o Strong leadership skills and the ability to work effectively with operational leaders, IT engineering managers, Application directors and IT engineering staff.
o Able to lead and manage data. Sets clear and achievable goals and infuses a data driven culture through the IT Technology teams. o Proficient at collaborating within and across functional departments and customer organizations to achieve desired outcomes and goals.
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS
- Work Experience:
o Experience with cloud and on-premises delivery.
o Experience maturing and transforming team processes and delivery.
- Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: Working knowledge of Lean or Agile Software Development.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Majority of time involves sitting or standing; occasional walking, bending, and stooping.
- Long periods of computer time or at workstation.
- Light work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds with or without assistance.
- May be exposed to inside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to moderate noise.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
- Workspace may vary from open to confined.
- May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
