Main Duties & Responsibilities

Create and/or edit manufacturing processes and
workflows. Determine the methods and
sequence for manufacturing operations of machined parts and assemblies, and ensure
products and processes meet customer quality requirements. Create machine programs
for CNC machines to manufacture tight tolerance machined parts & setup
machine to ensure the parts thought tooling, fixturing and program passes 1st Article. Train operator on running part and setup reduction opportunities.

Essential Functions

• Evaluates manufacturing processes by conducting process analysis, applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, machine programming, assembly, tooling, and materials, and soliciting observations from operators/production technicians.
• Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment. Helps prepare work instructions to communicate manufacturing requirements to production personnel.
• Refines and enhances products and processes, reduces setup and improves throughput by applying continuous improvement and key lean manufacturing/production principles and techniques to critical or high-impact areas of production.
• Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, equipment layout and establishing and implementing “design for manufacture and assembly” plans. Assures process control and reliability for broad areas of manufacturing that may include supplier base as appropriate.
• Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods, testing finished product and process capabilities, and establishing standards to confirm and validate manufacturing process requirements.
• Recommends and implements changes to manufacturing processes by analyzing production, labor standards, and material costs.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing publications, establishing industry networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, and/or participating in professional associations.
• Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements (e.g. environmental, building code, safety, etc.).
• Recommends actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses. Analyzes, substantiates, and proposes changes in methods and materials with cost and quality impact.
• Shares specialized knowledge with others.Represents company on projects.Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Work assignments may include cross-functional (e.g. quality, design, or test engineering) or project team responsibilities.
• Performs all other duties as assigned

Qualifications

education and experience

Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Manufacturing,
Industrial, Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field a plus but not
required. Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job
typically acquired through three years or more of increasingly responsible
related experience, and thorough 5-Axis machining experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and
Abilities

• Knowledge of manufacturing and production engineering theories, principles, practices, techniques and concepts, and broad knowledge of 5-Axis Machining and related tooling, fixturing and programming techniques and Application in successful 1st off results.
• Ability to effectively assess and implement continuous improvement and lean manufacturing/production principles and techniques.
• Ability to use standard business applications software and/or specialized data analysis tools as required
  Ability to work effectively with CAD/CAM systems or other computer-aided manufacturing systems such as Vericut G-Code Simulation
• Ability to apply drafting and related machining systems to make recommendations for improved productivity.
• Ability to establish goals and objectives to complete projects.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering drawings, technical policies and recommend changes to procedures; effectively communicate and present information to team members, team leaders, and top management.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to save and retrieve all programs and related documents in controlled folders developed through the Predator system
• Train/Mentor CNC machining personnel as required to ensure they follow the standard work and related documents, measurement of all features required, setup reduction opportunities and related job specific training

Physical Demands

The employee frequently is required to use hands
to operate a computer and talk or hear. The employee is required to sit, stand
and walk as needed. Specific vision abilities required by this job include
close vision. Also expected of the
employee is regular attendance, the ability to work cooperatively and
professionally with others and members of the public, and the ability to manage
multiple tasks at once. The employee may be required to travel to vendors or
customers including overnight trips.
