Context
This United Nations Volunteers (UNV) assignment is part of WHO support to assist the Government of The Gambia to strengthen the health services through information exchange. The documentation of the 2018/2019 WHO annual reports will be used to disseminate the work of WHO in the Gambia, guide WHO to streamline its support to attain its mandate of providing leadership on global health matters, shaping the health research agenda, setting norms and standards, articulating evidence-based policy options, providing technical support to countries and monitoring and assessing health trends.
Task description
• The External Relations Officer in The Gambia is responsible for enhancing donor contributions to WHO by managing grant applications.
• Overseeing grant reporting and developing a resource mobilization plan.
• Support technical staff through skill development and training.
• Build and maintain partnerships with donors and stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with donor requirements.
• Additionally, the officer coordinates with regional and HQ offices.
• Identifies funding opportunities, and performs other related duties as needed.
