We are looking for a qualified Facilitator Consultant with proven expertise and experience to support the planning for, implementation and documentation of the upcoming PSI urban WASH meeting in Nairobi, Kenya, from November 19 to 21, 2024. Staff from PSI HQ and PSI urban WASH practitioners from field programs around the world are expected to attend the meeting, the objectives for which include:

  1. Sharing experiences on urban WASH strategies and innovations from our different contexts.
  2. Defining common and standard approaches to technologies, methodologies and philosophies in PSI urban WASH programs.
  3. Establishing a global PSI urban WASH learning agenda.
  4. Outlining common directions and orientations towards a PSI urban WASH strategy.

Scope of Work

The Facilitator Consultant will:

  1. Work with PSI HQ WASH and PSI Global Services Hub staff to conduct the 3-day meeting, including:
    1. Plan and review the meeting agenda, content and format, to ensure progressive arrangement of the main themes and efficient time management.
    2. Facilitate the meeting and contribute to moderating sessions to maximize engagement and ensure the achievement of the required meeting outcomes.
    3. Maintain a concise record of sessions and activities, to contribute to the final report.
  2. Provide post-meeting technical outputs, including:
    1. Debriefing session with PSI WASH HQ staff.
    2. Prepare a concise summary report of meeting sessions according to the thematic areas discussed.
    3. Outline within the summary report, a draft of the PSI urban WASH strategy drawing from the thematic areas, experiences and lessons learned shared during the meeting.

What are we looking for?

  1. Advanced university degree in public health, engineering, urban development, or a related field.
  2. 10 years of relevant professional experience, including at least 5 years of experience in designing, implementing, and/or evaluating sanitation programs.
  3. Significant experience designing, leading, and facilitating similar workshops, and a proven track record of leading and facilitating thematic and strategic planning workshops.
  4. Demonstrated excellence in analytical writing, interpersonal and communication skills.
  5. Ability to contribute to the internal and external body of evidence in relevant technical area.
  6. Ability to distill complex technical concepts into strategic goals, objectives, and approaches; demonstrated strategic decision-making.
  7. Fluency in written and oral English. Proficiency in French would be an added advantage.
  8. Preferably based in Kenya. The consultancy will not pay for travel.

  • Technical Profile – A description of the consultant with contact information (25%)
  • Capability Statement – A concise response to the services/specifications requested, including examples of past successes and/or references to published work (35%)
  • Price Proposal – The consultant’s price proposal including a price schedule with daily or hourly rates (35%)
  • Consultant’s References – A list of references with contact information (5%)

The application will be evaluated on technical capabilities, past performance, relevant relationships and cost competitiveness, according to the framework provided above.
