position Summary
Under general supervision, perform routine, semi-skilled, and skilled maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, repair, alteration, and installation of campus retractable bollard systems, loading dock platform levelers, and related non-elevator equipment. Maintain and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, electro-mechanical, and control systems associated with retractable bollards, security gates, loading dock levelers, and related equipment located outside of elevators or conveyances. This position does not independently perform repairs, maintenance, inspections, testing, adjustments, or alterations on elevators, escalators, lifts, dumbwaiters, or any other regulated conveyance equipment. Any work involving elevators or conveyances shall be performed only under the direct supervision of a journey-level Elevator Mechanic and within the limits permitted by applicable codes, regulations, University policy, and trade jurisdiction requirements. Inspect assigned equipment for proper operation, identify malfunctions, diagnose system failures, and perform corrective and preventive maintenance to ensure safe and reliable operation. Assist journey-level trades personnel, Elevator Mechanics, contractors, and vendors with maintenance, repairs, modernization projects, inspections, and testing activities as assigned. Operate and maintain a variety of power tools, hand tools, testing equipment, and service vehicles. Maintain accurate maintenance records, complete work orders, document deficiencies, and follow all applicable safety procedures. The position serves as the primary in-house resource for campus bollard systems, loading dock equipment, and related exterior, and supports emergency response activities involving bollard operations, loading dock equipment, security gates, and other assigned systems.
