About us

The Institute of Animal Science (IAS), Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), founded in 1957, is an internationally leading national research institution in the field of animal husbandry. The institute is committed to ensuring the efficient supply of animal products and promoting the sustainable development of the livestock industry through advanced technologies. Its research areas cover livestock genetic resources, breeding of domestic animals and poultry, frontier animal biotechnology, animal nutrition, forage science, and veterinary medicine. IAS is dedicated to addressing the major scientific and technological challenges facing global animal husbandry, while promoting innovation, international cooperation, talent development, transformation of scientific and technological achievements and the construction of think tanks.

The IAS has 230 faculty and staff in the abovementioned programs, including 70 Professors, and 80 Associate Professors. The IAS has approximately 600 graduate students and 50 post-doc fellows.

Program 1: Pig Genetics.

Program 2: Animal Biobank.

Areas: (1) Cryobiology; (2) Biogeography; (3) Developmental Biology; (4) Bioinformatics

We have the following facilities: (1) State Key Laboratory of Animal Biotech Breeding; (2) National Farm Animal Germplasm Biobank; (3) IAS High Performance Center; (4) Instrumentation and Service Center for Animal Sciences.

Candidates for Professor positions must provide names and contact information for three letters of reference in the application file or arrange three letters of reference to be sent by referees directly to iashr@caas.cn.

At the time of appointment, applicants must hold an earned doctorate in an appropriate field. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications. The evaluation of applications by the search committee will be initiated immediately once the application files are complete.

Review of applications will start upon receipt and will continue until the positions are filled. For exceptional applicants recommended by the faculty search committee, we will schedule interviews immediately.
