The British Government in Germany is based at the British Embassy in Berlin and our consulates in Dusseldorf and Munich. We are part of a worldwide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas. We are looking for an Office Assistant to provide administrative, organisational, and to the British Ambassador’s Private Office.
This is a support role at the centre of the Embassy. Working in the Ambassador’s Private Office, the jobholder will have an excellent overview of British engagement with Germany, and the opportunity to develop administrative and foreign policy skills at the heart of one of the UK’s most consequential bilateral relationships.

Other benefits and conditions of employment
This is a full-time, fixed-term position, of 37.5 hours per week for 2 year contract with the possibility of a permanent contract subject to performance and funding. Salary €51,564.00 rising to a maximum of approx. €57,922.00 gross per annum after a qualifying period in addition to performance related pay (Salary is not negotiable) after successful probationary period and per the T&Cs.
The successful candidates will be subject to professional background check and security clearance. The successful candidates must have pre-existing work authorisation in Germany in order to apply.
Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local German employment law.
Visa/work permit requirements: Candidates must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Germany and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract.

Working patterns: Working hours- 37.5 hours per week
This is a fixed-term contract with the possibility of extension subject to performance and funding.
Working pattern will be in line with British Embassy’s internal policies. In order to carry out their work, the post-holder may be required to work outside the normal working hours from time to time.
