Main purpose of job: 

This is a key role at the heart of the College of British Diplomacy, where you will support the Communications Manager with the planning and delivery of communications and marketing campaigns to establish the College as a world-leading centre of diplomatic learning excellence.

Working as a key part of the wider College Communications Team you will play a role in the launch of the College planned for 2026 and subsequently lead on the development and delivery of internal and external communications strategies, aimed at establishing the College as a partner of choice on international learning.

What will you be expected to achieve? 

Deliver strategic communications campaigns and effective project management (50%): 

• Support the launch of the College as directed by the Communications Manager leading on broad areas of communications activity (such as College branding, engagement, external communications strategies).
• Work with the Communications Manager and external agencies to prepare and deliver branding and marketing strategies for the College.
• Create marketing collateral to promote the College, College learning offers and the college curriculum.

Support the College”s media efforts (15%): 

• Support the Communications Manager with briefing materials for the Foreign Secretary and senior FCDO officials.
• Liaise with central media team on media opportunities, press releases and College launch announcements.
• Lead the team’s monitoring of media coverage related to the College and its competitors.

Ensure effective digital communications (15%): 

• Support the development of an online presence for the College across key digital platforms (intranet, social media) to reach government, academic, and business audiences.
• Create digital assets and digital content to promote the College vision, offerings, and learning programmes.

Support events and presentations (10%): 

• Support the planning and delivery of the College launch event (scheduled for 2026).
• Develop presentation materials explaining the College”s vision and offerings.
• Create briefing materials for senior leaders representing the College at external events.

Additional Responsibilities (10% of role):

• Support strategic relationship building and external engagement activities, including developing stakeholder communications across government, academia and industry, whilst assisting with high-profile events and creating materials for senior leadership representation at external forums.

Essential on arrival: 

• 5+ years professional experience, including in communications positions with a public or private-sector organisation some of which should be within an international setting
• Proven experience working with digital and social media channels.
• Proven skills in strategy design and managing complex communications campaigns.
• Experience working with external agencies.
• Strong IT skills, (including standard Microsoft Office programmes and familiarity with latest digital tools).
• English language (written and oral), with experience of working in an English-speaking environment.
