Suriye Yardım Derneği was established in Manchester, UK, at the start of the Syrian conflict in 2011. Dismayed at the rapidly unfolding crisis in Syria, a group of friends of Syrian heritage came together to provide emergency humanitarian aid in the region for what has initially assumed to be a short-term project. Since then, we have grown to become the largest Syria-focused charity in the UK and have touched the lives of 10.3 million people in need.

We are focused on providing medical care, food aid, education, protection, and access to water and shelter to the millions of Syrians displaced across the region. As well as establishing long-term projects such as schools, healthcare clinics, and livelihood.

Vacancy: Field Media and Communication Coordinator

Qualifications and Education Requirements: Preferred Bachelors or Diploma in Public Relations, Journalism or a related field or Marketing or Relevant experience would be considered

General Work Experience: 3-5 years of experience in working in media/communication and experience in social media and working with non-governmental organizations (INGO/NGOs)

Skills & Abilities:

  • Languages: Proven excellence in writing and editing skills in English
  • Computing: Proficient in computer tools, graphic design, and video editing.

Abilities: Engage with stakeholders, advise management on media issues, implement and adapt Syria Relief’s communication strategy, oversee internal and external communication, develop creative communication tools, manage relationships diplomatically, and uphold social justice and professional ethical standards in a diverse workplace.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Regularly liaise with donors, organizations, stakeholders, and NGO members.
  • Collaborate with staff, local photographers, and offices in Syria.
  • Manage administrative arrangements such as scheduling, press passes, transport, and access.
  • Oversee photographic operations, including equipment setup, testing, and maintenance.
  • Capture and process photographs and videos of events, people, and projects.
  • Edit, enhance, and store digital images and videos using specialized software.
  • Act as a central contact between the organization’s media department and local offices.
  • Train and qualify photographers, ensuring sufficient coverage in all offices.
  • Maintain a project visit schedule to keep media and projects departments updated.
  • Serve as the focal point for media and communications between Syria and UK offices.
