The Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts comprises Georgia Tech’s three Reserve Officers’ Training Corps units (Air Force, Army, and Navy), six schools (Economics; History and Sociology; Literature, Media, and Communication; Modern Languages; Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School of Public Policy; and the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs), and two centers (Center for Advanced Communications Policy and Writing and Communication Program).

The Finance Manager is responsible for managing financial activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting, while directly executing tasks without supervising a team. This position focuses on the technical aspects of finance, requiring strong analytical skills and attention to detail to ensure accuracy and compliance in all financial processes.

Job Duty 1 –
Prepare and analyze financial reports to provide accurate data for decision-making and ensure compliance with institutional policies and regulations.
Job Duty 2 –
Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to continuously enhance technical skills and knowledge in financial management.
Job Duty 3 –
Collaborate with various departments to gather financial data and provide support for grant proposals and funding requests.
Job Duty 4 –
Stay informed about changes in financial regulations and best practices to ensure compliance and improve financial management processes.
Job Duty 5 –
Develop detailed budgets for departments and projects, working closely with stakeholders to gather necessary financial information and projections.
Job Duty 6 –
Monitor and track expenditures against budgets to identify discrepancies and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
Job Duty 7 –
Conduct financial analysis to assess the institution’s financial health and support strategic planning initiatives by providing data-driven insights.
Job Duty 8 –
Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders to ensure transparency and accountability.
Job Duty 9 –
Implement financial controls and processes to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of financial operations within the department.
Job Duty 10 –
Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Experience
Six or more years of relevant experience.

• Proficient in Workday and MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint. Ability to learn and apply new software.
• Professional experience in a higher education or research university setting.
• Ability and temperament to work with sensitive information in an executive-level environment.
• Strong communication skills, including written and verbal.
• Excellent customer service skills, organizational awareness, and professionalism.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships to successfully accomplish objectives, while being able to work independently and in a team environment.
• Strong attention to detail.

Knowledge/Abilities

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive listing of Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts Dean’s Office accounts and reconciliations.
• Oversee communications, at the direction of the Assistant Director of Financial Operations, for financial updates and balances to Dean’s Office staff, including the Dean, Associate and Assistant Deans, College Administrative Officer, College-level Directors, and other appropriate faculty and staff.
• Collaborate with IAC finance and grant personnel, as well as coordinate with institute finance, procurement, and related business units across campus.
• Support event, technology, and building management financial requests.
• Participate in Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts events and meetings as it relates to student, faculty, or staff occurrences.
• Serve as a backup to the Assistant Director of Financial Operations.

SKILLS

• Specialized skills required for this job: Application of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices; advanced financial analysis and forecasting techniques; use of specialized financial/accounting related software; project organization and management; communications and presentation skills

The person in this position will manage day-to-day finance and budgeting requests for the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts Deans Office, including inquiries and processing related to travel and expense, procurement, reconciliations, among other similar financial duties. This individual in this position will support the Assistant Director of Financial Operations with finance and budgeting for the six IAC Schools, ROTC units, and other IAC centers.
