At the State of Connecticut, Connecticut Technical Education and Career System (CTECS), we are currently looking for a qualified individual to join our team as a Float Cook (Cook) position, with a home base of Vinal Technical High School in Middletown, CT.

Your Role as a Float Cook:
In this role you will have a home base of Vinal Technical High School in Middletown, CT. As a float position, the individual hired for this position will work in the school cafeterias throughout the region as assigned. This includes, but is not limited to the following:
Preparing and cooking a wide variety of foods
Operating various types of cooking equipment such as stoves, ovens, steam cookers, mixing machines, choppers, etc.
Cleaning kitchen areas and equipment
Other tasks as needed/assigned

CTECS operates 17 diploma-granting technical high schools, one technical education center and two airframe mechanics and aircraft maintenance programs. The school system provides a direct employment pipeline for high school students and adult learners.

This class is accountable for independently performing a full range of tasks involved in preparing and cooking food.
Two (2) years of experience in the preparation of food on a quantity basis.
Successful completion of a cook training course under the auspices of state or federal apprentice training bureaus may be substituted for one (1) year of the General Experience.
Incumbents in this class may be required to lift moderate to heavy weights; may be exposed to risk of injury from equipment and utensils used in the kitchen and from individuals.
