| Forklift Operator/Warehouse Material Handler Hauppauge, NY 1st Shift (8:30am – 5:00pm) $23.07 – $25.18/HRLY Job Summary Yarde Metals is looking for a warehouse associate to join our Operations Team. A warehouse associate is responsible for safely filling orders, replenishing inventory, loading/unloading trucks and moving material in the warehouse. Job Responsibilities - SAFETY FIRST!
- Move material throughout warehouse by safely operating powered industrial vehicles (forklifts and overhead cranes).
- Retrieve material from inventory according to work instructions.
- Verify accuracy of material retrieved by measuring and comparing product information on tag to work order.
- Construct skids and use shipping supplies to properly wrap and prepare product for delivery using tape measures, banding equipment, and nail guns.
- Tag material, verify product against work order, and perform last piece visual inspection.
- Safely load and unload material from trucks using cranes, forklifts, and side loaders.
- Inspect inbound material using measuring tape measures and calipers.
- Record and report material discrepancies.
- Locate material into inventory racking system.
- Prepare orders for shipment via common carriers, UPS, and customer pick-up.
- Expedite orders and process received and shipped material in system.
- Print material certifications and shipping tickets.
- Continually inspect materials and report material defects.
- Perform additional duties as instructed by manager.
Requirements & Qualifications ***This is a SAFETY SENSITIVE position: requires operating heavy machinery*** - High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to read and understand English to follow work instructions.
- History of working safely and productively.
- Forklift operation experience strongly preferred.
- Basic math skills required to convert decimals and fractions and to accurately use and read tape measures and calipers.
- Dependable, punctual, and works well with others.
- Able to pass background check, drug screen, physical, meet physical requirements of the position.
- Willingness to work required overtime.
