Location: New Orleans, LA
Duration: 12 months assignment with possible extension
Shift Schedule: 6:00 AM-2:30 PM
Pay Rate: $36/hour on W2 without benefits
Job Description:

• Performs machine set-up, machining, welding set-up, welding, sheet metal fabrication and extrusion, tube bending and fabrication tasks.
• Performs composite lay-up, fabrication and assembly tasks. Assembles precision mechanical and electro-mechanical components.
• Assembles, repairs, modifies and installs various power plants and drive trains.
• Perform soldering on electronic and avionics products.
• Assembles and installs wire harnesses and avionics products.
• Prepares test articles, fixtures and data collection devices to perform various tests.
• Performs basic organic chemical conversion and paint preparation.
• Applies routine organic coatings for corrosion protection and appearance requirements.
• Works on articles of limited complexity following established drawings and requirements.
• The selected candidate must have a minimum of 3 years operates specialized Friction Stir Welding (FSW) machinery to join metal parts using a solid-state process, prepares materials, inspects welds for quality, performs routine machine maintenance, and utilizes precision measuring tools.
• This role requires knowledge of welding and preparation, a strong understanding of metallurgy, and the ability to collaborate with engineers on process development and problem-solving to ensure high-quality, strong bonds for industries for aerospace.
• These resources will go through specialized training (anywhere from 3-4 weeks) to get them trained on the SLS process and tools.
• They will need to be comfortable with heights. All PPE, other than prescription safety glasses, will be provided.

Required Skills:

• Supporting SLS program rocket, specifically running robotic weld tools and weld preparations.

Required experience:

• Minimum of 3 years operates specialized Friction Stir Welding machinery.
• Experience working with welding tools.
• Understanding the welding process and ability to work alongside engineers and other team units.

Required education:

• High school diploma or GED and typically 1 or more years’ related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Any kind of trade school experience with welding appreciated.
