Organization Mission

Istanbul International Center for Private Sector in Development (IICPSD) supports the private sector and foundations to become transformative partners in development through research, advocacy for inclusive business, facilitation of public-private dialogue and brokering partnerships. IICPSD, established in 2011 in partnership with the Government of Türkiye, is one of UNDP”s six Global Policy Centres. It leads UNDP’s global work on private sector and foundations and supports UNDP’s offices all over the world. The Center focuses on four thematic areas:

1. Inclusive Business;

2. Private Sector Engagement in Skills Development;

3. Impact investing;

4. Resilience and Crisis Response.

The Center also hosts four global initiatives: Business Call to Action, SDG Philanthropy Platform, Global Islamic Finance and Impact Investing Platform and Connecting Business Initiative.

Context

The Tech4R (Technology for Rescue, Response, Recovery and Resilience) initiative mobilizes digital volunteers to co-create innovative solutions for disaster risk reduction. As part of their ongoing work to support NGOs, UN entities and government agencies, Tech4R is building a volunteer tracking app. Tech4R is developing a Volunteer Tracking App to support NGOs in managing volunteer engagement and reporting. The app requires both front-end and back-end development, with integrated automation and communication features.

Key Responsibilities

The online volunteer will support building the volunteer tracking app’s front-end interface and back-end systems, implement data storage, and integrate features like WhatsApp/email notifications. They will work closely with analysts and designers to transform workflows into a functional MVP (Minimum Viable Product). The expected contribution is 11-15 hours per week over 10 weeks, depending on app development milestones.

Required Skills and Experience

Proficiency in JavaScript, Python, or similar languages.

Experience with databases (SQL/NoSQL) and APIs.

Mobile and/or web development experience.

Familiarity with Figma or other design-to-code workflows.

Ability to work in agile, collaborative environments.
