DWP is looking to fill 1 role in Contract Management and Partner Delivery directorate. We welcome applications from candidates who demonstrate: 

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is responsible for welfare, pensions and child maintenance policy. As the UK’s largest public service department, we operate on a scale almost unmatched across Europe, and most people in the UK will have come into contact with us at some point in their lives.  

DWP works with external providers to deliver a number of specialist services for some of the most vulnerable individuals in the UK, including those who are disabled, have health conditions or are in long-term unemployment. 

The responsibility for managing the health and employment contracts sits within the Contract Management and Partner Delivery (CMPD) directorate, and we also support local authorities to deliver housing benefit and allocate and manage billions of pounds in funding. CMPD sits within Finance Group (FG) and works closely with a wide range of colleagues including DWP Service Delivery, Commercial, Finance, Strategy and contracted suppliers. 

CMPD work with professionalism and commitment as an exemplar, driving third-party performance to deliver the department’s goal of helping those that can work and supporting those that can’t.

Job description

Key tasks include but are not limited to: 

  • This role involves working directly with end users and stakeholders to gather business requirements to inform MI production.
  • The successful candidate will be the MI expert within the team.
  • Translating requirements into proposed solutions and working with other technical specialists to turn proposed solutions into practical applications.
  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement of operational processes in line with DWP’s strategic objectives.
  • Assisting in defining what MI can and should be captured during the various operational processes carried out in the division and being responsible for producing that MI for usage at various levels.
  • Production of various weekly MI snapshots and the monthly CAD dashboard for internal and external audiences whilst maintaining close working relationships with in-house analysts, database design team and contract management colleagues.
  • Supporting non-clinical audit teams through the uploading and extraction of data samples into a specialist database.
  • Support Clinical Auditors with the production of MI on team quality and consistency to support the Departments wider commitment to ensuring quality and consistency in the audit process.
  • Presenting and explaining data to stakeholders at boards, workshops and ad hoc meetings as required.
  • Ensure MI proposals and MI captured meet strict Data Protection and GDPR Policies & Legislation.
  • Provide support and knowledge across other areas as required to help drive quality of performance of divisional operations now and in the future through detailed and informative MI solutions.

Person specification

Candidates should demonstrate the following criteria in their 1000-word personal statement as this is the information that will be used to conduct the written sift.  

  • Lead Criteria: Strong, proven problem-solving and analytical skills, including experience in advanced excel capability, with the ability to interpret and appropriately display complex data and create Management Information to draw conclusions, identify improvements and resolve issues. This criterion must be met.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex and sometimes challenging messages to a diverse range of senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • A self-starter who can work independently and flexibly to get buy-in and agreement to achieve common goals across a wide range of organisations and individuals, whilst meeting deadlines.
