Description of the Assignment: Geographic Information System (GIS) Specialist

 

Period of assignment/services: 10 person-days spread over 2 months

 

Competencies and Qualifications:

 

The Consultant should possess the following qualifications:

• Advanced Degree in geography, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), environmental management, environmental science, forestry, or other relevant field providing advance skill and expertise in GIS analysis, remote sensing, and environmental modeling.
• At least 10 years of professional experience applying GIS techniques and spatial analysis methodologies to environmental and natural resource management and/or experience working on projects related to carbon accounting, forest carbon monitoring or other similar initiatives. Previous similar work experience with UNDP or other UN agencies is an advantage.
• Submission of at least two qualified sample work of GIS analysis projects with projects under UNDP or other UN agencies demonstrating proficiency in spatial analysis techniques, data manipulation and visualization.
