Responsibilities Facilitates the interagency/intergovernmental geospatial work efforts, establishes formal and informal partnership agreements, coordinates the sharing or exchanging of information and data. Reviews technical procedures, keeps lines of communication open, and represents the BLM geospatial information policies and interests. Leads the development and implementation of geospatial integration and support. Provides professional advice, leadership, direction and program coordination on technical aspects of GIS, global positioning systems (GPS), geospatial information dissemination, and remote sensing. Develops, organizes, and executes geospatial business needs assessments to ensure these activities are properly planned and supported within the limitations of funding and labor constraints. Assists in creating policy or procedures regarding geospatial information standards, interagency sharing of geospatial information, and general GIS direction. Designs, develops, and manages geospatial databases, including conversion of digital data in various formats, and the conversion of thematic source maps from analog to digital form. Provides technical user support for all aspects of geospatial data and software. Performs feasibility studies for the use of Geospatial technologies to meet user requirements. Examines and evaluates alternative approaches and makes recommendations to users and management. Responsible for the technical and administrative supervision of professional, technical, clerical and administrative work to carry out the mission of the organization. Determine acceptability, rejection or correction of contractor work. Leads the section in: identifying, distributing and balancing workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established workflow, skill level and/or occupational specialization. Makes adjustments to the workload in accordance with established priorities to ensure timely accomplishment of assigned team tasks. Develop long and short-range goals and strategies that includes the development of project goals, objectives, actionable events, milestones, deadlines, and time frames for their completion. No assumptions will be made about your experience. You must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 level that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity. Specialized experience is defined as designing/managing geospatial databases including project quality control and/or research; Collaborating with others in developing and/or implementing geospatial applications or data; Assisting with geospatial systems operations and support activities, technical options, and the general principles of geospatial information management; Assisting with project planning, project management, and systems design for complex, user-oriented systems. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
