MiCT is calling for proposals for freelance Global Communications & Community Manager as part of its program “MiCT Fellowship for Critical Voices 2025”, funded by the German Federal Foreign Office. MiCT invites interested and qualified persons to submit proposals by 06.03.2025

1. Introducing MiCT

Media in Cooperation and Transition (MiCT) is a non-profit organisation delivering expert media services in complex and challenging contexts with passion, precision and agility. Through our collaborative work with our partners, we foster transparent, inclusive and fair dialogue supporting resilient societies that thrive.

Across three continents and 15 countries, MiCT facilitates the training of journalists and media producers, programme and content development, radio and film production, magazine and book publishing, media research and monitoring, in addition to supporting the financial viability of our partners.

2. The Program

The MiCT Critical Voices Fellowship is aimed at media professionals from crisis and conflict countries who share a common value in their professional journalistic integrity. The program has a global mandate, providing Fellows with tailored support covering their most urgent needs to allow them continue contributing to the global information ecosystem.

3. Description of the role

To support the internal and external communications of the Fellowship program, and its network of over 1000 journalists and media makers, MiCT is looking for a Global Communications and Network Expert to support the program for up to 90 days until December 2025.

Deliverables include, but are not limited to:

Global Communications:

  • Development & implementation of a comprehensive global communications strategy
  • Development of partnerships with media and other support organizations
  • Publication and dissemination of press releases and newsletters
  • Support monitoring and visibility of Fellows’ content
  • Monitor and advance social media reach of programme and Fellows

Global Community Management

  • Continued development & implementation of a global, digital community strategy
  • Organizing and delivering global trainings & community events

4. Application Requirements

Successful applicants should be able to provide proof of the following:

  • Creative development and implementation of international communications strategies with a focus on LinkedIn and Twitter
  • Thorough understanding of SEO and social media analytics mechanisms
  • Fluency in English is required, working knowledge of regional contexts and languages spoken in the project countries (Myanmar, Russia, Sudan, Ukraine, Libya or Afghanistan) is an advantage
  • Familiarity with discourse around exile and crisis journalism, media freedom and critical, non-discriminatory development communication desired
  • Experience managing digital platforms and training offers required
  • Advanced design skills preferred
  • Flexibility and teamwork

5. What we offer

We welcome applicants globally to join our small, creative and international team. MiCT can provide safe, creative working environments in Berlin or one of our global hubs. Remote candidates are also welcome to apply. The contract will run from March until December 2025, covering around 90 days on a flexible, freelance basis. Some project travel may be required.
