GLOBAL GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS MANAGER (STARLINK)
Starlink will provide high-speed broadband around the world, helping to connect the unserved and underserved. As a member of the team, you will help enable Starlink’s expansion internationally through direct lobbying efforts and strategic coalition building.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support Global Government Affairs and international roll-out of Starlink, including government relations support to facilitate and accelerate licensing, market access, and regulatory approvals worldwide
- Shape spectrum, business operations objectives, and broadband policy discussions and initiatives in the U.S. and with foreign administrations
- Develop, maintain, and build-upon a network of relationships with international government officials, lawmakers, and regulatory decision-makers
- Oversee and manage consultants and third-parties engaged in SpaceX global government affairs matters
- Shape SpaceX global legislative strategies, tactics, and policy development
- Draft legislative language, attend hearings, draft hearing testimony, and develop policy positions
- Monitor and analyze international market policy developments
- Prepare presentations for key audiences for SpaceX leadership
- Perform research as needed, develop policy and collateral materials
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5+ years of professional experience working on legislative matters in the private sector or a government organization
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Advanced degree (MA, JD, PhD) in science, policy, or political science, international affairs, or another relevant field
- Outstanding written and verbal communications skills
- Experience working on issues directly related to international telecommunications regulatory agencies or legislative committees/bodies; and international telecom organizations
- Knowledge of launch vehicles, satellites, and space technology and policy matters
- Thorough knowledge of radiofrequency spectrum technology
- Direct experience in achieving definitive legislative outcomes
- Passion for SpaceX’s mission and goals and rural connectivity
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems
- Demonstrated ability to forge coalitions and partnerships
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be willing to travel, <40%
- Must be willing to attend political and industry events on behalf of SpaceX
- Flexibility required including long hours and weekend work when necessary to support operations and critical project timelines
ITAR REQUIREMENTS:
- To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
