Minot State University – Esports Graduate Assistant
JOB SUMMARY:
Minot State University invites applications for a Graduate Assistant position in the growing Minot State Esports program. The position requires working knowledge of popular collegiate esports titles (such as Valorant, League of Legends, Rocket League, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and others) and interest in continuing to build esports programming. The GA will assist in organizing teams, running practices and matches, building a social media presence through multimedia content production, and other duties as assigned. The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of at least one of the game titles listed above and must be a graduate student at Minot State University. This is a half-time (up to 20 hours/week) graduate assistant position with an anticipated start date of September 15, 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Duties
Along with the esports director, head coach, and other team members, the GA duties may include (but are not limited to):
- Streaming/broadcasting MSU Esports matches on Twitch and/or other platforms
- Assisting with team practices and matches as assigned by the Head Coach
- Creating and posting social media content, including short-form videos, match previews, and event notifications
- Engaging with campus and community partners in outreach events
- Assisting with new student recruitment efforts
- Analyzing player data for use in practices and matches
Minimum Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree and knowledge of at least one of the core titles in the MSU Esports program (Valorant, League of Legends, Rocket League, and/or Super Smash Bros. Ultimate) are required. Candidates with experience in K-12 or collegiate esports, education, multimedia production, data science, coaching and/or community outreach are especially encouraged to apply.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given for those who have expertise in areas related to collegiate esports, including knowledge of multiple competitive titles, experience working with/recruiting K-12 students, knowledge of coaching and higher education practices, media production, and data-driven decision making.
