The Grants & Donor Services (GDS) department engages donors in grantmaking through attentive, personalized services that help them make informed and thoughtful giving decisions, effectively allowing charities to advance their work and donors experience the joy of giving. The Grants Processor administers the day-to-day operations of the grants management process with excellence and efficiency to provide the highest standard of service experience to donors and grantees.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implement grantmaking activities and approval processes from grant request to check payment for donor-advised funds, organizational funds, Thrivent Charitable administered funds.
- Ensure timely and accurate generation of grant notification letters, grant distributions, and grant agreements. Maintain electronic grant files.
- Maintain grantmaking policies, processes, and tools that align with and support the Foundation’s strategy through the grant lifecycle from recommendation to reporting.
- Supports the GDS team in the implementation of collaborative and community fund grantmaking and encourage grants that fulfill donor intentions and better serve their target communities.
- Provide guidance to Donor Service and Gift Planning staff on grantmaking questions.
- Works collaboratively across departments and with the Grants & Donor Services team to ensure compliance with IRS and other applicable regulations through the grant lifecycle. Document legal review and decisions on grants.
- Communicate with donors, fund advisors, and grantees to guide them through the recommendation or application process, answer questions about grants status, and provide technical support where needed. Provide expedient, efficient, and courteous solutions for donors and constituents seeking assistance.
- Support for researching and producing grantee information reports for donors as requested.
- Implement grantmaking through Thrivent generosity programs including Giving Tuesday, Action Team fundraisers, disaster relief campaigns, and other areas of collaboration.
- Serve as subject matter expert in working with technology department to maintain and enhance the grantmaking platform and donor portal to ensure data integrity and client satisfaction.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of professional experience in philanthropic or nonprofit industry, or grants/data management.
- Demonstrated proficiency with current office technology, including advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and to manage multiple tasks within tight timelines.
- Ability to work independently but also as part of a “matrixed” structure.
- Solid administrative skills including ability to handle multiple projects or tasks while paying close attention to detail, effectively prioritizing to meet deadlines within a fast-paced environment and maintain a high quality of work.
- Strong logic, analytical and problem-solving abilities with solid understanding of complex data management.
- There are no extraordinary physical demands or licenses required for this position.

The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $26.01 – $35.19 per hour, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
