Your Role

The Premier Accounts Underwriting team serves group health care for national and public sector companies with over 3,000 employees and all labor and trust groups. Partnering with our national (large) accounts sales organization, we work with California’s and the nation’s largest and most sophisticated employers and benefits consultants.

The Group Underwriter Large, Senior will report to the underwriting manager. In this role you will be part of an underwriting team responsible for balancing operating income and membership goals while protecting the company’s bottom line from loss.

Your Knowledge and experience

• Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• Requires at least 5 years of prior relevant experience
• Requires strong knowledge of medical underwriting principles, practices and techniques
• Requires ability to solve complex problems with sometimes ambiguous information
• Requires comprehensive knowledge of medical products including their financial drivers and funding arrangements including fully insured, ASO, minimum premium and refund accounting
• Requires excellent negotiation and customer service skills
• Requires ability to perform as a team member and collaborate with other teams/depts
• Preferred: Experience working for a national insurance carrier working on larger national account
