ABOUT THE ROLE

The Head of Mine Planning and Resource Management is charged with managing the replenishment and growth of aggregate reserves and mine planning at all mine sites across the United States. The scope includes active sites, organic growth in our operating businesses, greenfield exploration projects and acquisition opportunities. The Head of Mine Planning and Resource Management will collaborate with regional operations, land, environmental, and real estate teams, along with other key business leaders to create a clear strategy for the Company’s North American business.

WHAT YOU’LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.
  • Validate resources and reserves.
  • Design, implement, and manage drill campaigns.
  • Define the strategic and operational plans and activities.
  • Identify and analyze market positions of both competitors and customers.
  • Lead the team in constructing the strategic mine planning for all operational sites to ensure that long-term mine planning contributes to its competitiveness and growth strategy.
  • Manage the process of new reserve prospecting, due diligence, financial modeling, transaction negotiation, and mine permitting. Manage drilling, exploration, and development budgets.
  • Ensure the accuracy and reliability of mine plans and schedules.
  • Oversee the implementation of new technologies and software for mine planning and design.
  • Ensure mine plans are in compliance with company and regulatory requirements. Oversee the preparation of feasibility studies. Effectively communicate mine plans and progress to key stakeholders.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Education: Bachelor’s degree

Field of Study Preferred: Geology, Mine Engineering or similar field

Required Work Experience: 12+ of years’ experience required

Required Computer and Software Skills: Esri ArcGIS, Autocad, Modeling software such as Vulcan (preferred), LSS or Carlson

Travel Requirements: 50%

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment (“PPE”), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit test.
  • Conduct due diligence and related growth activities.
  • Manage a team of engineers, geologists, and GIS specialists.
  • High energy level and demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, and the ability to balance multiple tasks with close attention to detail
  • Vision and ability to identify emerging threats and opportunities
