Job Duties

 

Performs a variety of duties develops, designs, monitors, coordinates, evaluates, and administers health education and prevention activities in Southwest Utah Public Health Department. Performs complex clerical, technical, and entry-level professional work in assisting in the essential functions described below.

 

  • Assess local health education needs using surveys and other assessment tools; document and evaluate results and present findings to division administrator; develop comprehensive local health education plans based upon identified needs.
  • Coordinate prevention campaigns for residents by implementing awareness campaigns, media relations, and other social marketing plans.
  • Educate on cardiovascular disease, injury control, and coordinate classes.
  • Evaluate the impact of health education programs by conducting process, impact, and outcome evaluation.
  • Disseminate general health education information for the various divisions of the health department; consult with, and educate, the divisions and/or assist in bringing together comprehensive prevention services throughout the county by assisting in consultation services and networking with other agencies or groups.

     

Work Schedule

 

  • Monday thru Thursday 7:30-5:30, Friday from 8-5 with every other Friday off

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Graduation from college with a bachelor’s degree in health education, health promotion, public health, or a related field
  • Must possess a driver’s license

     

Work Environment

 

May be required to stay at or return to work during public health incidents and/or emergencies to perform duties specific to this classification or to perform other duties as requested in an assigned response position. This may require working a non-traditional work schedule or working outside normally assigned duties during the incident and/or emergency.
