The Health Information Management (HIM) Coordinator serves as a liaison to the Managers of Health Information Management Operations; Duties may include but not limited to the following: oversee the organization AHCA reporting, medical record amendments, managing the contract staff access, and maintaining medical record compliance and confidentiality. This incumbent will have a significant role in the administration or preparation of the department operations. May attend management meetings and may be involved directly or indirectly around confidential management decisions. Position requires exercise of independent judgement.
Responsibilities
Responsible for assisting with the daily functions involving maintenance of protected patient health information via paper and or electronic format in a manner, which comply with organizational, departmental, and regulatory requirements.
Provides back up coverage for various areas of the HIM Department as needed.
Provides orientation and training for staff members on procedures, system functions, and activities required to perform job.
Monitors workflow to meet turnaround times, production standards, and project deadlines.
Functions as a resource person for HIM and clinical personnel to answer questions and assists with problem resolution.
Establishes and prepares daily, monthly, and yearly reports (statistical, productivity, and Key Performance Indicators KPIs) of a complex nature with the use of various applications including MS Excel and PowerPoint.
Ability to work simultaneously with various systems/software with a high level of technical skill and knowledge in order to meet deadlines and provide tangible deliverables.
Responsible for continuing education professional growth to stay abreast of industry changes.
Attends require trainings, completes on-line training as assigned.
Demonstrates, through plans and actions, a consist standard of excellence to which all department work is expected to conform.
Incorporates the organization values into all business staff development practices and all departmentally directed activities.
Participation may be required in HIM, revenue cycle, denial management, and other ad hoc meetings as may be required to improve the operations of the hospital as it relates to the hospital financial success.
Maintain appropriate internal controls over protected health information.
Assess and responds to organizational and client needs with innovative programs to ensure patient satisfaction.
Ensures compliance with relevant regulations, standards and directive from regulatory agencies and third-party medical record requests.
Performs other job duties that may be required to provide the quality and of service expected by JHS and Health Information Management team.

Experience
Generally requires 3 to 5 years of related experience.
Prior experience with Health Information Management or medical records is highly preferred
Education
RHIA or RHIT AHIMA Certification or Bachelor’s degree in related field is required.
AHIMA Certification is preferred.
Credentials
Valid license or certification is required as needed, based on the job or specialty.
