Fairview is currently looking for a full time (80 hours per pay period) Health Information Mangement (HIM) coordinator to be based out of our Midway Coporate office in St. Paul, MN. This is a remote position working 7am – 3:30pm Monday – Friday.

Position coordinates pillar operations for optimization, quality, and compliance of HIM operations through quality review audits, document integrity audits, and workflow analysis. Position coordinates changes in workflows and ensures continuous improvement in collaboration with leadership. Coordinator assists in developing and revising the data quality/productivity plans. Assures that Fairview and regulatory guidelines of HIPAA, Joint Commission, CMS, and other related regulations are adhered to. Uses quality control techniques to validate collected information. Coordinate resolution of work queue errors, delays, and workflow build issues. Supports overall education of the HIM staff by assisting and developing presentation materials routinely, dashboards, scorecards, programming, etc.

Responsibilites:

  • Partners with leadership and stakeholders to assess needs, establish decision making criteria and recommend or implement modifications.
  • Assist operations in creating self-service reporting including the creation of scorecards, dashboards, etc. Reports should be utilized to monitor employee productivity and effectively manage the business. Provide guidance on additional metrics to include.
  • Perform HIM workflows in release of information, document imaging, and/or HIM operations at an advanced level as necessary supporting operational success and to maintain skill level.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and partner with operations leadership to implement. Improvement opportunities including but not limited to system automation, workflow efficiency, testing, and process optimization.
  • Provides training to new or current staff as directed.
  • Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of project planning. Develops plan for small projects. May lead efforts to ensure continuous process improvement and high reliability process, policy, and educational materials.
  • Acts as liaison between departments to analyze, coordinate changes in workflow, resolve operational issues, including situations in peripheral departments and external stakeholder environments.
  • Organizes and performs reconciliations and identifies trends that need addressed while ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance in designated work areas.
  • Facilitate effective meetings ensuring stakeholder engagement, appropriate and timely information and providing documentation tracking of progress. Supporting projects, initiatives, and strategies
  • Analyze new business requests to understand requirements for IT needs. Provide guidance and recommendations on additional items to include.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Health Information Management or applicable field -OR- Four years of applicable and related experience
  • Two years of health information management operational experience with progressive assignments and scope of work.
  • Experience with process improvement, workflow optimization, data extraction/trending, report creation, and work queue management
  • Epic EHR

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Health Information or healthcare field
  • Four years of health information management operational experience with progressive assignments and scope of work.
  • Previous experience as coordinator, lead, or leader in health information management
  • Hyland OnBase Document Management System
  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
  • AHIMA Mirocredentialing
