Job Overview
Plans, organizes, directs, and controls the health information function, including the recording, maintenance, and processing of medical records to ensure clinical quality, patient experience and financial sustainability. Monitors state and federal legislative actions regarding medical records, vital statistics, patient confidentiality, and release of information. Partners with clinical leadership. Develops and aligns the HIM Department’s continuous improvement efforts with annual performance targets. Administers, reviews, and updates as needed department policies and procedures designed to uphold HIM operations and maintain compliance standards
Minimum Requirements
1. Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Administration or similar field.
2. A minimum of at least 3 years or more experience in health information management
3. Minimum of 5 years in a supervisory position
4. Working knowledge of health information management policies and procedures
5. Experience with unit record system and automated medical record systems. EPIC experience preferred.
6. Experience with release of information guidelines and familiar with HIPAA regulations. Knowledgeable of documentation guidelines and standards as set by Joint Commission as well as local and federal regulatory agencies.
7. Accreditation status under RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) and RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator) are highly preferred
8. Meeting the continuing education hours for the AHIMA (American Health Information Management association) met within two years of hire.
Compensation
$93,580.73 – $116,975.91 annually
