We are looking for a dynamic and passionate Health Information Management Supervisor to join the Mountainside Team!
What You’ll Do
The Health Information Management Supervisor is responsible for the appropriate retrieval, analysis, and completion of all Medical Records. Manages the release and storage of Medical Records for all departments working with our ROI (Release of Information) and record storage vendors. Coordinates audits and ensures 100% retrieval of records for auditing purposes. Monitors and tracks the suspension process providing Medical Staff with the proper documentation to suspend physicians based on delinquent records.
The successful candidate will be able to:
- Coordinate work with other areas the retrieval of outpatient records
- Coordinate the assembly and analysis of outpatient records
- Ensure the 100% retrieval of all charts and investigates ay discrepancies
- Coordinate with other areas the retrieval of outpatient records
- Coordinate the assembly and analysis of inpatient and outpatient records
- Coordinate final disposition of patient records
- Identify space and logistical issues proactively
- Plans and coordinates purging, archiving, and destruction of medical records
- Validate audit requests from outside sources
- Assign workload
- Ensure 100% retrieval of charts requested and available at time of audit
- Work with Patient Financial Services to ensure 1000% completion of audit requests
- Supervise the release of information process
- Evaluate performance of contracted copy service to ensure accurate and timely response to all request
- Evaluate performance of MHS representatives to ensure accurate and timely response to all stat requests
- Coordinate release of information to patient accounting for denials and reimbursement
- Allocate work assignments based on volume to ensure that copies are sent out with 14 days of request
- Coordinate workflow to ensure that all loose sheets are accurately looked up
- Ensure that all loose sheets are filed accurately and efficiently
- Orient new employees in the section
- Provide instruction, training, and re-training of section employees with respect to policies, procedures, and systems
- Understand and meet the requirements of the Corporate Compliance Program
- Act as a first line of support and supervision in the absence of the Manager
- Provide input for staff performance appraisals
- Perform any and all other duties as assigned
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience required
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an acute care setting
- Excellent observation skills, analytical-critical thinking, problem solving, plus effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to solve problems effectively and manage multiple priorities accurately
- Ability to assess, evaluates, and teaches physicians and other healthcare professionals
- RHIA required or must obtain RHIA within 1 year of hire
