Summary

Provide consultative services to Sanford Health and Good Samaritan Society’s health information management (HIM) professionals, in a variety of settings. Understand and support current and emerging HIM technology where applicable.

Job Description

Provide HIM consultative services to senior living and home and community based services. Develop and keep current manuals, standards, and other guidance materials related to HIM to support compliance with federal and state regulations and policies, procedures, and guidelines. Maintain HIM expertise and competence and participates in professional development activities and on-going learning.

Provide consultation, interpretation, assistance, guidance, and problem solving services to locations via remote or on-site visits.

Provide training and support for users of clinical applications remotely, via on-site visits, or through workshops. Providing HIM training through a variety of avenues including conducting HIM teleconferences, providing educational articles, cluster meetings, training material, resources, and other avenues as appropriate.

Maintain and use knowledge of current information, regulations, and practices in the HIM field with a specific focus on senior living, and home and community based services as assigned. Desire to share expertise through cooperative work on committees, task forces, and works with systems in an interdisciplinary manner.

Maintain knowledge and expertise of ICD-10 diagnosis coding in designated focus area. Interact with billing staff to assist with resolving billing/coding/compliance issues. Support current and emerging health information technology.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in health information management required.
  • Ability to teach and train adults. Ability to learn and develop high proficiency in computerized record systems. Knowledge and experience in computerized medical records in healthcare, preferably in senior living or home and community based services.
  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).
