Job Overview

Shriners Children’s is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center. We have an opportunity for a Health Information Management (HIM) Tech in our Spokane Facility. The Health Information Management Clerk performs various HIM functions and responsibilities including processing non-electronic requests for information, issues with the DNFB/Provider Hold Report, and other duties as assigned.

Hours: Full Time 1.0 FTE

Responsibilities

  • Assist in resolving any portion of the merge process (at the facility level) identified ny the Patient Access/Revenue Cycle.
  • Serves as the Physician/Provider Liaison to resolve any chart completion concerns or issues.
  • Meets established accuracy standards for Release of Information.
  • Ensures appropriate Release of Information procedures are followed as required by SHC policies, and state/federal confidentiality regulations.
  • Processes requests for information including all paper-based records, microfiche/microfilm, or records stored in any off-site locations.
  • Monitors, assists and follows up with physicians and other hospital staff in completion of deficiencies in the medical record, compiles, verifies data and prepares reports regarding patient related statistics and distributes/ posts data.
  • Provides back up to the HIM Manager for completing the monthly Closed Chart Review and Monthly Monitors Review.
  • Handle complaints, provide appropriate solutions for customers and follow-up to resolve any issues their customers experience.

Qualifications

Education

High School Diploma or GED, required

Associate in Health Information Management Preferred

Bachelor in Health Information Management Preferred

Experience

One year health-care experience in medical records processing operation, physician office, business office and/or customer service

Certification and Licensures

Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), preferred

Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) through AHIMA, preferred

(Pay range for this position is $18.91/hr – $28.37/hr. The hired applicant’s placement within the range is based on qualifications, professional experience and education
