Job Summary:

The HIM Tech is responsible for tracking and analyzing patient records and responding to requests from patients and various departments within the hospital, including security or litigation.

Essential Functions:

To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Effectively appropriately and clearly communicate with co-workers and director/manager/supervisors, demonstrating customer service excellence through application of positive language principles, appropriate response and use of constructive problem-solving techniques which foster positive outcomes. 
• Is familiar with neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric patients and SNF medical record requirements. Willingness to accept additional assignments.
• Must be able to process a minimum of 20 medical records per day.
• Knowledge of The Joint Commission standards and state medical record and HIPPAA requirements.

Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED), or equivalent, is required.

Associate Nursing, preferred
