Job Description:

The Health Information Support Supervisor is responsible for oversight and management of teams and work processes related to system-wide health information management. Core duties include but are not limited to managing human resources, including contract staff, assuring compliance with regulatory, policy, and best practice standards, aligning and documenting standard work to support policy, meeting or exceeding service level agreements and assuring continual quality improvement and process design. Areas of expertise may include document management (scan/index/digitization/organization), abstraction and discrete entry of clinical information, document and medical record completion, medical and ancillary record storage and retrieval, vital records (birth and death registries), radiology report editing, medical record corrections/amendments, system-wide forms, release of information, identity management, MyChart patient portal, Care Everywhere and other health information exchanges.

Candidates must be located within a reasonable distance of the Esko Distribution Center to allow for occasional onsite visits. While regular presence is not required, the ability to reasonably travel to the facility when needed is essential.

Education Qualifications:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assures compliance with human resource requirements and expectations, such as managing schedules, timecards, performance conversations, including documentation, and communications (up and downstream as needed)
  • Meets or exceed service level expectations in all areas of responsibility
  • Develops and maintains performance expectations for areas of responsibility, such as productivity and quality, to meet financial and service level expectations
  • Applies creative problem solving and demonstrates ability to manage escalated issues using good judgement
  • Leads process improvement initiatives and implements new workflows
  • Uses data to drive decision making, monitor areas of responsibility, and show process improvements

Educational Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree in health information management or related area of study

Or

  • Ability to obtain an associate degree in Health Information Management or related field within 3 years of start date

Required Qualifications:

  • 2 years of experience working with medical records

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an AHIMA accredited education program for Health Information Management (RHIA or RHIT eligible)
  • 1 year of supervisory or leadership experience
  • RHIA or RHIT certification
  • Epic EHR certification or experience
  • Microsoft Office skillset
  • Experience in the area of supervision
