Then the infrastructure is for you!Hatch’s National Highways & Bridges team is seeking a highly driven professional to lead our Highways team in Vancouver BC supporting our expanding Infrastructure business. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the delivery of critical roads, highways and bridges projects across both public and private sectors.As a Senior Highways Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the technical and strategic aspects of roads and highways projects, ensuring the successful delivery of design, execution, and management phases. You will play a key role in building and expanding Hatch’s project portfolio within the transportation sector, managing client relationships, and mentoring junior engineers, technologists, and technicians.You will bring a strong technical and project delivery acumen whilst having demonstrated experience in leading high performing multi-disciplinary and managing complex transportation projects teams within similar organisations.As the successful candidate you will:
- Support and develop the Highways team in Western Canada working with our Delivery Practices to support both client-side design development and contractor delivery projects
- Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships and focus on delivering work to an excellent standard, in line with client goals and expectations
- Oversee the delivery of diverse portfolio of roads, highways and linear infrastructure projects, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards
- Provide technical support guidance to personnel in the field of highways design, civil design and/or drainage
- Ensure all design and engineering work complies with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and client specifications
- Identify project risks and lead mitigation efforts, ensuring the effective management of scope, schedule, and cost across all phases of projects
- Collaborate closely with the Western Canada teams to integrate design and delivery practices, share technical expertise, and optimize project outcomes
- Contribute to the growth of Hatch’s infrastructure business by identifying new opportunities, preparing proposals, and supporting client presentations
- Foster a positive and inclusive culture by mentoring junior staff and facilitating knowledge sharing to enhance team performance.
Essential
- A relevant Bachelor’s degree or equivalent tertiary qualification in Engineering or Civil Design
- 10+ years’ professional experience in civil engineering or civil design with a focused experience in highways, roadways, and linear infrastructure projects
- Proven design delivery experience in the technical design, delivery, and management of major transportation infrastructure projects
- Be a motivated, results-driven engineering professional who has a track record of leading high-performing teams and successfully managing multidisciplinary projects
- Have strong oral and written communication skills including the preparation and presentation of technical reports, proposals, and client correspondence
- Experience in building and maintaining long-term client relationships, with an ability to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Sound knowledge of current North American engineering standards, design principles, construction methods, and project delivery practices
- Knowledge of current environmental regulations and sustainable design practices within the highways and transportation sector
Desirable
- Chartered status or professional registration (P. Eng.) is desirable but not mandatory
- Experience and interest in client relationship management including negotiations, and project budgeting
- Software proficiency in 12D or OpenRoads, AutoCAD, or similar civil design platforms.
