Position Overview:

As an HIM Clerk in an oncology practice, your primary responsibility is to ensure accurate maintenance and retrieval of patient medical records. Your role is vital in facilitating seamless communication between healthcare providers, ensuring timely access to patient information for diagnosis, treatment, and research purposes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Retrieves phone messages, faxes, Digifax and responds to, sorts and distributes to the appropriate department Communicate and have breast knowledge to obtain reports from radiologists
• Handles release of information; ex. disability, FMLA, insurance and litigation
• Corresponds via telephone, email or fax with Physicians/Nurses/Staff within WCC and at outside facilities
• Prepares patient records for faxing, mailing, or pick up. Corresponds with Front Desk staff regarding patient pick up

Qualifications:

• REQUIRED: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months related experience
• PREFERRED: Experience with medical records
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
