Purpose of Activity/Assignment

The purpose of this consultancy is to provide professional graphic design services for the six Case Studies on the integration of Social Behavior Change (SBC) into Ukraine Refugee Crisis Response, the concept note on SBC contributions to emergency preparedness and response and other SBC-related documents.

Background

UNICEF ECARO SBC Section has documented its contribution to Ukraine and Refugee Response Humanitarian Action for Children with six case studies. Additionally, a note was developed showcasing SBC work in different emergencies and articulating the SBC offer for emergency preparedness in the Europe and Central Asia region. Other strategic documents were or are currently under development, while will need to be designed.

Scope of Work

The Graphic design consultant will support, SBC team on the graphic design of the six above-mentioned case studies, the note on SBC contributions to emergency preparedness and response and other SBC-related documents (approximately 100 pages of content).

Under the direction of the Regional SBC Specialist the consultant will undertake their assignments in accordance with UNICEF’s most recent global brand guidelines and UNICEF graphics manual.

Work Assignment Overview

Tasks / Milestone Deliverables / Outputs Timeline / Deadline Provide graphic design services for the design on six case studies, the concept note on SBC contribution to emergency preparedness and response and other strategic documents. Completed Six case studies (approx. 6 pages of text each) with design/ layout and infographics in accordance with UNICEF most recent global brand guidelines and graphics manual.

50 working days in total;

By May 2025

Completed concept note on SBC contribution to emergency preparedness and response (approx. 10 pages of text) with design/ layout and infographics in accordance with UNICEF most recent global brand guidelines and graphics manual. Other SBC documents, as needed. (approx. 50 pages of text) completed with design/layout and infographics in accordance with UNICEF most recent global brand guidelines and graphics manual.

Estimated Duration of the Contract

50 working days between September 2024 and May 2025.

Consultant’s Work Place and Official Travel

The Consultant will be remote/home-based with no travels foreseen.

Estimated Cost of the Consultancy & Payment Schedule

Payment will be made on submission of an invoice and satisfactory completion of the above-mentioned deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold all or a portion of payment if performance is unsatisfactory, if work/outputs are incomplete, not delivered or for failure to meet deadlines. All materials developed will remain the copyright of UNICEF and UNICEF will be free to adapt and modify them in the future.

Please submit a professional fee (in USD) based on 50 working days to undertake this assignment.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, public relations, Graphic Design, or relevant field.
  • At least five (5) years of professional graphic design experience.
  • Familiarity with UNICEF’s branding and style guidelines (ideally experience designing products for UNICEF or other UN agencies) is desirable.
  • Excellent creative skills in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign software.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
