GGGI has a diverse portfolio of programs in developing countries around the world. These in-country programs, together with global products and services, focus on delivering results through an integrated approach of evidence-based green growth planning and implementation aligned to countries’ development priorities. The organization also focuses on knowledge development and management activities that build a strong theoretical and empirical basis for green growth, while providing concrete options and guidance for policymakers; as well as building the conditions for public and private green infrastructure investments.
GGGI is a global leader in enabling climate finance and has pioneering programs in establishing national financial vehicles for green finance, issuing climate and thematic social bonds, debt for nature swaps, establishing a carbon transactions platform, and other innovative approaches to financing the green transition. GGGI is in the process of expanding its adaptation and resilience portfolio and is increasing support to its members, in particular to rapidly developing lower and middle-income nations through the provision of different types and strategies for accelerating adaptation finance.
GGGI is continuing to develop and expand the support to its members in terms of Adaptation and AFOLU related projects services. These areas include the development of cutting-edge publications and though leadership as well as support for the development of global programs and investment projects. The AFOLU and Resilience Communities of Practice are looking for a Junior Project and Research consultant to support work across these publications as well as to support the overall scaling of work across various thematic work streams.

- Contract Duration: 01/04/2025 – 01/02/2026 (10 working months)
- Number of Work Days: 180 days
- Consultant Level: Specialist/Advisor Level 2
- Total Fees: Daily rate of 175 USD/day
OBJECTIVES OF THE ASSIGNMENT
To support this effort, GGGI is seeking support for the development of
1. Support the drafting and finalization of the Nature for Adaptation Publication (Volume 1)

- Support the AFOLU and Resilience CoP Leads in the editing and finalization of the flagship publication
- Work with GGGI’s Communications Team to finalise the report.

2. Co-lead the development of the second volume of the finance for Nature Publication

- Work with the dataset of nature financing enabling environments provided by the project team in order to support and finalize analyses of Nature-finance related data.
- Work with the AI Consultant to develop analyses based on the findings.

3. Support and Coordinate National Adaptation Planning Support Across GGGI, including

- Finalising the rapid NAP assessment, undertaking interviews and finalizing a report detailing the findings of the assessment, and hosting a seminar presenting the findings internally.
- Developing a model NAP approach based on the rapid NAP assessment.

4. Support the Completion of GGGI’s Adaptation and Resilience Framework, in partnership with colleagues from the Internal Evaluation Unit.
5. Support the development of joint investment projects in the area of adaptation and resilience, with MDBs and other partners.
6. Support the AFOLU Community of Practice

- Coordinate with AFOLU regional leads and project managers to facilitate knowledge sharing and internal discussion.
- Organizational survey on GGGI’s role and objectives in AFOLU-related work.
- Support drafting of a series of internal communications surrounding GGGI’s AFOLU work in collaboration with regional leads and project managers.

7. Support the development of AFOLU flagship initiatives related to the Blue Economy, Agriculture, and Landscapes.
8. Provide research support on target adaptation and nature-based solutions projects.
DELIVERABLES AND PAYMENT SCHEDULE
This consultant hired for this position will be asked to submit a monthly timesheet accounting for the work produced during the month.
Within the first week of contracting, the consultant will deliver a detailed workplan for the core technical deliverables of this consultancy. This workplan will be reviewed and agreed together with GGGI.
- All outputs must be in English. In addition, the Consultant may be required to submit the outputs in other languages.
- Final report must be approved by the GGGI. The Consultant shall consider the comments and necessary revisions proposed.
- The consultant will deliver to GGGI the necessary methodological reports, spreadsheets, and data to enable the understanding and replication of financial modeling conducted as part of this assignment.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION AND EXPERTISE
The consultant should have the following qualifications and expertise:
- A Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Political Science, International Development.
- At least 2+ years of experience working with International Organizations, NGOs, Think Tanks in project development or research output development.
- Proven interest in climate adaptation and/or AFOLU sectors.
- Excellent communication and technical writing skills for developing clear reports, documentation, and user guides.
- Prior experience working internationally, particularly in developing countries or the global south, would be an asset.
