The Role and the Department
This is a great opportunity to join a team that delivers our Pay, Reward and Pension arrangements across the University. The successful candidate will support the administration of our pension arrangements during a period of change as well as providing administrative support across our reward arrangements, which help the University to attract, retain and reward colleagues.
The Reward and Pensions Team works collaboratively with various other teams across the wider HR function, including our Recruitment, Payroll, Business Partnering and Organisational Development Teams. There is lots of scope for development and future career progression at Durham and the role is likely to appeal to individuals with administrative experience, who are interested in developing their knowledge of HR and more specifically an understanding of Pensions and Reward. We work flexibly and operate hybrid working arrangements meaning the postholder can work remotely for most of the week.

What you need to demonstrate when you apply
To be considered for this role, here are the skills/experience we’re looking for:
Qualifications/Experience
1. Five GCSE’s at least Grade C or level four (or equivalent) including English Language and Mathematics or equivalent experience.
2. Experience of working in a busy office environment delivering front line administrative services or having relevant qualifications for the role.
3. Experience of managing time to meet deadlines and working under pressure without compromising on quality.
4. Experience of working with confidential data and an understanding of the general data protection regulation (GDPR).
5. Experience of using Microsoft Excel alongside other database systems and ability to evidence good analytical skills.
Skills/Abilities/Knowledge
6. Good spoken and written communication skills.
7. Good digital skills including experience in using digital devices and apps including the internet, email, digital communication tools, Microsoft 365 applications, digital booking systems.
8. Committed to continuing professional development.
9. Ability to solve problems and resolve straightforward issues yourself and as part of a team.
10. Ability to provide advice and guidance to a range of colleagues and customers.

The post is full time, fixed term for a 1 year period and may be offered on an internal secondment basis subject to the agreement of the current line manager.
