Job summary

Companies House are looking for a Human Resources (HR) Administrative Apprentice within their HR team in Cardiff.

This is a unique opportunity to gain comprehensive, firsthand experience in the world of HR within Government. This is an exceptional development opportunity for an ambitious individual eager to learn and has a genuine interest in HR.

You will gain exposure across multiple areas of workstreams as a member of our HR Business Partner (HRBP) team who support our brilliant people to flourish in their role and have responsibility for supporting the administrative activities needed to support this.

About the Apprenticeship:

This is primarily an administrative HR role although you will be supported to complete a level 3 apprenticeship in HR alongside your role and, we will ensure that you have the opportunity to gain the experience needed to complete your qualification. You will be studying the Level 3 CIPD Foundation certificate in People Practice.

Please note this is a fixed-term apprenticeship role for 2 years but there may be the potential to move into a full-time role following the completion of the programme.

Job description

As our HR Administrator apprentice, you’ll work within our HRBP Team over the term of the apprenticeship, shadowing and supporting HR team members as they look after the ‘life’ of an employee with key responsibilities of:

  • Communications to colleagues as they move through key stages of their career lifecycle (managing and processing probation/promotion, issuing letters and updating the system as and when it’s required).
  • Monitoring and processing phased returns and updating the system accordingly.
  • Documenting key confidential meetings (taking notes in disciplinaries etc)
  • Be the point of contact to answer emails and service now requests on multiple topics such as Annual Leave, Flexi etc
  • Monitoring colleagues and leavers time with us to issue ‘Imperial Medals’ where necessary
  • Handling sensitive and confidential information through an employee’s lifecycle and document management
  • Responding to external requests for references for staff who have left or are leaving Companies House

Person specification

We are looking for a HR Administrator who:

  • Is enthusiastic and willing to learn
  • Is a strong communicator when speaking and writing with internal and external customers
  • Is customer service focused to deliver a positive customer experience
  • Is well organised – to manage a variety of tasks and your own workload, so that everything is completed accurately and on time;
  • Can adapt to a variety of tasks and a dynamic way of working;
  • Works well independently and as part of a team – being comfortable following instructions, showing initiative and supporting colleagues;
  • Can work digitally – using a range of software and systems;
  • Handles confidential information with sensitivity and care, adhering to our policies.

Essential criteria;

At least 5 GCSE’s with a minimum of C grades including English and Maths
