- Building effective relationships with business leaders and consulting on operational strategy to enhance strategic direction.
- Work with management to develop strategic initiatives to achieve business objectives and translate strategies and plans into the desired operational outcomes.
- Partner with management on potential HR contributions, solutions, implications and risks of proposed business initiatives.
- Provide guidance and support to the business and HR team on labour and employee relations, talent management, compensation, training & development and organizational development.
- Collaborating with the HR team to develop and propose solutions labour and employee relations challenges.
- Ensures the business/function and legal entity is adhering to all applicable legislation and policies related to employee and labour matters and managing risks and compliance to government standards and Company policy.
- Supports the implementation (including launches) of all HR programs, activities and annual processes,
- Provide information, analysis, advice and counsel to management on people and labour related trends, focusing on the consequences and implications of the information.
- Ensuring that a strong leadership and coaching culture permeates the DC, coach and support managers and Human Resources team.
- Facilitate resolution of employee behavioral concerns such as progressive discipline/corrective action, conflict resolution, and ethics hotline complaints by working with managers and employees.
- Maintaining a strong knowledge of current HR practices and trends and applying them to the business.
- Applying analytics and metrics to business challenges; Leveraging and promoting existing feedback mechanisms to continuously increase levels of employee engagement and commitment to maintain an engaged workforce and to retain the best talent.
- Manage the labour relations function for the Western Distribution Centres. Including grievance management, negotiations, disciplines management, conflict resolution and complex investigations.
- Lead and coach 1 HR Generalist
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills and Experience:
- University Degree or College Diploma in Human Resources or equivalent work experience.
- 5 years of HR business partnering experience
- Minimum 3-5 years related Human Resources experience.
- Familiarity working within a unionized working environment, including grievances management and negotiations
- Change agent
- Excellent time management skills, ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strategic thinker, with strong problem solving and influencing skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal and written).
- High initiative, self-motivation and strong leadership qualities.
- Strong computer software skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.).
- Continuous improvement mentality
- Excellent knowledge of the organizational department structure, thus creating a keen understanding of skills sets required by job function.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Certified Human Resources Professional
- Project Management experience
- Experience with various HRIS, ATS and Performance Management Systems
