Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD) Research Group, under the Maternal and Child Nutrition Department of the Nutrition Research Division, has focused on the control and elimination of NTD in Bangladesh through evidence-based diagnostic and clinical research in low-resource settings.

Position Description:

The Field Research Supervisor will report to the Assistant Scientist and will be responsible for identifying respondents and collecting data to support research studies within the guidelines of project-specific field research procedures and organizational values and policies. S/he will be involved in –

• Understand project scope, questionnaire, guidelines, survey methodology, timelines, target groups and areas, etc.;
• Screen and identify suspected Kala-azar, Lymphatic Filariasis, and Leprosy patients and refer them to the field hospital/nearest treatment centers.
• Select target population; Visit field sites as per plan; Conduct interview; Convince respondents to provide valid answers to complete the questionnaire and collect required information as per guideline;
• Take notes during qualitative interviews, transcribe qualitative data, and determine adequate availability and representation of target population groups according to the study criteria;
• Recheck data; Perform data entry and cleaning;
• Escalate and resolve issues after discussing with the Supervisor;
• Check completed questionnaires of other individuals to find inconsistencies;
• Provide other team supports like demonstrating interviewing techniques; Intervene and moderate the interview of team members with an uncooperative respondent, if required; Provide feedback, share experience and learning within the team;
• Manage petty cash and prepare bills and vouchers at the field site for timely reimbursement;
• Submit monthly and quarterly progress reports on field activities.

Required experience and qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in any discipline;
• 3 years of experience in research projects;
• Experience with working in NTDs and preparing financial documents will be given preference.

Location: Dhaka with extensive field visit to NTD field sites

Number of positions: 01

Contract Type and Duration:

• Short Term Contractual Service Agreement basis; the duration will be 3 months with a possibility of extension subject to the availability of funds and performance.

Salary & benefits:

• Tk. 47,873/-(consolidated) per month, inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances.
• Festival bonus, income tax paid by icddr,b and subsidized canteen. Transport and Daycare facilities are subject to space availability.
