IDA: Financial Analyst II – Virginia

JOB DESCRIPTION

Overview

The Financial Analyst II is responsible for complex financial analyses across IDA and is responsible for consistently producing timely, accurate and relevant analyses & business decision support to the organization’s leadership. Prepares monthly financial reports and responds to questions from project leaders and others on expenditure details and variances. Helps develop reports and presentation materials that effectively communicate business plan execution by operational units compared to budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the financial partner to IDA’s leadership team, ensuring they thoroughly understand the detailed components of their actual and budgeted costs.
  • Leads the strategic planning efforts in close partnership with the Leadership team.
  • Develops annual budgets, including labor, non-labor, capital and non-capital equipment.
  • Performs monthly, quarterly, annual and multi-year planning.
  • Analyzes problem areas, suggests improvements to process or practice, and implements corrective action as necessary with management’s concurrence
  • Supports individual managers with the development of their respective cost analysis which build up to the budget.
  • Tracks and manages actual funds spent against projections; makes recommendations to improve results and stay on track with budget
  • Partners with the business, contracts, and procurement teams on contract modeling/ negotiation/execution for key contracts.
  • Provides regular financial status reports to the Leadership team
  • Performs ad hoc analysis & financial modeling as requested.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educations workshops, reviewing publications as applicable
  • Participates in special projects as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field. Masters in Business Administration (or MBA Candidate) preferred.
  • Professional certification (e.g.; CPA, CMA, etc.) preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of budget and forecasting analysis experience.
  • Experience in government contracting and indirect cost management required.
  • Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) preferred.
  • Advance knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office products including PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Experience working with Excel, OneStream, Cognos Reporting, Tableau, Deltek Costpoint, Hyperion, and/or other similar planning and reporting tools.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to multi-task and work effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain necessary security clearance.

Compensation

We support transparency, equity, and fairness in our compensation program and provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range based on data-driven market analysis for each position. While it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range, a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this role is $81,475 – $130,360. Individual salary within this range will be commensurate with the incumbent’s experience, unique skills and qualifications, and other relevant factors.
