Background: The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) operates a hybrid ICT infrastructure consisting of an on-premises data center, local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN), and connectivity to UN global enterprise systems and public cloud environments. To support ESCWA’s digital transformation objectives, the Decision-Support and Data Science Division (DSDSD) is seeking a Senior ICT Infrastructure Analyst to contribute to various ICT infrastructure projects related to networking, system management, cybersecurity, directory services, and hybrid cloud integration, in support of a secure, modern, and efficient infrastructure aligned with UN and industry best practices. Duties and Responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of the Head of the Cloud, Infrastructure, and Cybersecurity Unit, and the overall guidance of the Chief of DSDSD, the Individual Contractor will carry out the following duties to support ESCWA’s core ICT infrastructure operations and improvements: – Review and improve ESCWA’s LAN, WAN, iWAN, Wi-Fi infrastructure, Layer 2/3 routing, internet connectivity, and network access control (NAC) systems. Identify design inefficiencies and implement configuration changes to enhance performance, scalability, and availability. – Assess network segmentation and firewall configurations in alignment with the UN Secretariat Network Segmentation Policy. Review and apply updates to Next Generation Firewall (NGFW) rules, threat prevention settings, and logging policies. Analyze and optimize Quality of Service (QoS) to prioritize critical traffic. – Review and optimize the endpoint management platform (SCCM/MECM), including operating system deployment, software packaging, update compliance, and automation. Implement adjustments in accordance with ESCWA cybersecurity policies. – Assess and improve on-premises infrastructure including physical servers, VMware virtualization, storage systems, and backup configurations. Support planning and implementation of infrastructure optimization and prepare for migration to Proxmox, including validation and risk mitigation. – Review and optimize the configuration of Citrix NetScaler ADC, ADM, and Gateway, including load balancing, SSL offloading, authentication, and remote access policies. Apply configuration changes, test improvements, and verify service availability and user access. – Evaluate the current hybrid identity and endpoint management setup to support the migration to Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) and Intune. Implement synchronization, enrollment, and policy configuration, and support testing and post-migration verification in accordance with ESCWA cybersecurity policies. – The contractor is also expected to produce technical documentation, support testing and validation activities, coordinate with relevant teams and vendors, and ensure all work aligns with UN and ESCWA technical standards.
