How can you make a difference?
The Business Innovation and Support (BIS) section brings together business expertise, technical skills, and project management across five key streams: Digital and Data Innovation, Business Process Innovation, Customer Support Services, Knowledge Management, and Release/Demand Management. The close collaboration among these five pillars underpins the successful delivery of GSSC’s mission.
This new role is to lead a team and proactively drive process optimization through automation across the GSSC, fostering a culture of efficiency, innovation, and high-quality service delivery and improve business processes across the Centre’s service delivery streams, reduce manual effort, and strengthen operational performance. The role is also to champion the adoption of AI and intelligent automation, ensuring UNICEF remains at the forefront of digital transformation in the humanitarian sector.

Lead Intelligent Process Automation (IPA) initiatives, integrating advanced automation technologies -including AI, machine learning, and cognitive services – to drive holistic transformation of business processes and deliver next-generation efficiency and effectiveness.

Minimum requirements:
An advanced university degree is required in computer science, software engineering, information technology management, business administration, or another relevant technical field is required.
*A first-level university degree in a relevant field combined with seven years of professional experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
Required:
A minimum of 5 years of professional experience with progressive responsibility in business analysis, system analysis, solution design, software development/configuration, and integration.
3–5 years of experience in requirements elicitation, business process analysis, and functional specification development, applying critical thinking in complex or high-pressure environments.
Experience in developing automation solutions using RPA technologies and workflow automation platforms, including UiPath, Microsoft Power Automate, Blue Prism, Winshuttle, or similar.
Experience in developing automation solutions using Intelligent Process Automation (IPA) platforms, with a strong emphasis on AI-driven software engineering.
Experience with programming languages and scripting tools such as AutoIt, PowerShell, VBA, VBScript, SQL, and experience in migrating existing bots and automation solutions to enterprise-ready platforms.
Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly in verbal and written formats to a range of audiences, including non-technical stakeholders.
Demonstrated knowledge and application of current and emerging AI technologies
Proven ability to identify opportunities for process optimization and innovation, implement automation solutions, and deliver measurable improvements in solution quality, efficiency, and business impact.
Desirable: Experience with AI/ML frameworks, prompt engineering, cognitive automation, and integration of AI capabilities (such as computer vision, NLP, and predictive analytics) is highly desirable.
Asset: Experience working in a UN organization or other international/multi-stakeholder environment is an asset.
Strong knowledge of business process mapping, analysis, and optimization, with experience in applying lean or similar frameworks.
Experience with automation tools and platforms (e.g., RPA, workflow automation, scripting) and ability to translate business requirements into reliable solutions.
Experience with AI/ML tools and platforms (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Azure AI, AWS AI services) and the ability to translate business requirements into intelligent, automated solutions.
Familiarity with project/product management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid) for delivering automation initiatives.
Competence in data analysis and visualization tools (Excel, Power BI, Tableau) to monitor solution performance and support decision-making.
