Working within the friendly Strategic Command Headquarters Digital, Data & Information team, the Information Management and Exploitation Officer provides a specialist service, and delivers advice and guidance, to support the effective and secure management and exploitation of information throughout the organisation. In addition, the job holder uses Microsoft’s PowerPlatform products to support the streamlining of business processes and provide management information. 

This post is advertised at 37 hours per week.

Job description

As a crucial part of HQ of UKStratCom, the multifaceted Digital, Data and Information team leads on all aspects of digital and data, ensuring that information is delivered, managed and exploited securely, efficiently and effectively. 

The Information Management and Exploitation Officer plays a key role in ensuring that all information management, information exploitation, records management and knowledge management processes and practices within HQ UKStratCom adhere to MOD, UKStratCom and HQ policies. 

Alongside this, the job holder will work to find and develop opportunities for new ways of working, using their knowledge and experience of working with SharePoint, O365 and the PowerPlatform to drive essential improvements in our headquarters. 

Person specification

The successful candidate will 

  • Be flexible, adaptable and able to work on their own initiative. 
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills, both written and verbal. 
  • Have strong organisational skills. 

Essential Criteria 

  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office packages especially SharePoint, Word, Excel and Outlook. 
  • Have an understanding of the Information lifecycle and its application in a fast-paced work environment. 

Desirable Criteria 

  • Have completed relevant Knowledge & Information Management (KIM) training. 
  • Have experience of SharePoint site management and solid understanding of File Plans. 
  • Have experience of PowerPlatform products or a willingness to learn.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance. The post does not offer relocation expenses. 

External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.
