Australia Assists

Australia Assists, an Australian Government program, has embarked on its second phase, deploying skilled humanitarian specialists to support multilateral agencies, governments, civil society, and communities in preparing for, responding to, and recovering from disasters and conflict.

Phase 2 (2024-2029) builds on the success of the initial seven-year phase, further advancing Australia’s global humanitarian efforts through strategic deployments of humanitarian specialists. Deployments support Australia’s multilateral, bilateral, and civil society partners, aligning with Australia’s humanitarian, development, and foreign policy priorities.

The program, managed by Tetra Tech International Development on behalf of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), mobilises humanitarian specialists from the Australia Assists roster to work with partners across the Indo-Pacific region and globally, before, during, and after humanitarian crises. The program takes a strengths-based approach, recognising and reinforcing local leadership, building on existing capabilities, and promoting equity and inclusion. This ensures that outcomes are impactful and sustainable.

Key responsibilities

• Work with DFAT, the Australia Assists team, and the Deployee Reference Group (DRG) to develop and implement AAIMS to be a user friendly and comprehensive planning, management and communications tool
• Develop a user guide with clear and concise instructions for new AAIMS users
• Ensure data is secure and provided in a form that complies with DFAT requirements
• In collaboration with the MEL and Quality Manager, support the development of an updated MEL framework and Performance Assessment Framework (PAF) that meets DFAT’s monitoring and evaluation framework
• Undertake additional modifications to the AAIMS to improve efficiency, data clarity, outcome visibility, and the user experience
• Conduct and assist with user training, as required
• Support data cleansing, analysis, and reporting requirements for the program, on an ad hoc basis, and to meet contractual reporting requirements

Selection criteria

• Tertiary qualifications in monitoring and evaluation, project management, information management, business systems or other relevant field.
• Demonstrated experience in data management, including supporting program monitoring, evaluation, and learning, data visualisation, and reporting in line with client requirements
• Demonstrated experience in monitoring and evaluation of humanitarian interventions and/or long-term development programs
• Experience supporting effective business system design, implementation, and improvement
• Experience in the design and development of web-based information management systems, well regarded.
• Proficiency in the use of data analysis and reporting tools, including Excel and/or PowerBi, or aptitude to acquire
