JOB DESCRIPTION:
Job Title: Director, Information Systems
Department: Operations
Reports to: Chief Operations Officer
Status: Full-time, Salary Exempt
Salary Level: I, salaried commensurate with experience
PURPOSE:
The Director, Information Systems (IS) will lead the organization’s technology strategy and oversee its global information systems, ensuring that technology aligns with and supports the mission and vision of the organization. This role is responsible for the management and integration of information systems across international offices, ensuring data integrity, cybersecurity, and system efficiency. As a key member of the leadership team, the IS Director will collaborate with multiple departments to optimize processes, improve communication, and support decision-making through effective use of technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive IT strategy in line with organizational goals and growth plans.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align technology initiatives with overall mission objectives.
- Evaluate emerging technologies to ensure the organization remains at the forefront of relevant innovations.
- System Management and Optimization:
- Oversee the operation, maintenance, and upgrades of global information systems including donor databases, CRM, ERP systems, and communication platforms.
- Ensure the seamless integration of systems across different countries and regions.
- Ensure the scalability and adaptability of systems to meet the organization’s growing global needs.
- Cybersecurity & Compliance:
- Develop and enforce IT security policies, ensuring that systems are protected from cyber threats.
- Ensure compliance with relevant data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, etc.) and standards.
- Manage cyber-insurance coverage and ensure compliance with policy requirements.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Leadership & Team Management:
- Provide strong leadership skills, including the ability to lead cross-functional teams
- Lead and mentor the IT team, providing direction, training, and development opportunities.
- Support continuous learning and stay updated with the latest technology trends for the IT function and team.
- Foster a collaborative, service-oriented culture within the IT department.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to address the technological needs of different departments (e.g., finance, HR, communications, disaster response teams).
- Vendor & Budget Management:
- Manage relationships with external IT vendors, ensuring that services are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Develop and oversight the IS budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
- Global Collaboration:
- Work closely with international offices to ensure they are equipped with the necessary IT tools and infrastructure.
- Provide remote and in-person IT support for global staff, including troubleshooting and training as needed.
- Innovation and Efficiency:
- Identify and implement process improvements using technology, increasing efficiency and driving cost savings across the organization.
- Lead the organization in digital transformation initiatives, improving data-driven decision-making and reporting.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in IT management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role, managing teams.
- Experience working with a global, decentralized organization, preferably within the non-profit sector, and managing globally dispersed teams and IT functions.
- Holder of relevant certifications e.g., CISSP, PMP, ITIL, preferred.
- Thorough architectural expertise in the Microsoft ecosystem, including M365, Teams, SharePoint, Entra, Azure, and supporting development technologies.
- Strong understanding of donor databases, CRM systems, and ERP systems.
- Proven experience with cloud-based technologies, cybersecurity, and data privacy regulations.
- In-depth knowledge of global IT laws and regulations, including GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA, and other relevant international IT policies.
- Familiarity with the unique challenges of Christian non-profit organizations and a commitment to working in a faith-based environment.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to work cross-culturally and support international teams.
- Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in an international or mission-driven organization.
- Familiarity with digital transformation and automation technologies.
- Experience managing large-scale IT infrastructure projects.
