Job Description and Duties

Under the general direction of the Information Technology Manager I, the Information Technology Specialist II is responsible for performing a wide variety of project management tasks by demonstrating leadership and expertise in providing oversight for complex information technology (IT) projects and providing expert advice and project coordination, mentoring, and consulting while ensuring collaboration between groups, allied agencies, and private organizations. This position will also aid the Department in complying with control agency reporting requirements, project management framework requirements, and California Statewide Information Management Manual requirements. In addition, this position has responsibility and authority for decision making and providing assistance on project prioritization and resource allocation. Will also act as the Project Manager on complex projects as needed for the Information Technology Section, Project Management Group.

Working Conditions

Monday through Friday, 0800-1700 hours. Telework may be available after the probationary period is successfully passed.

While Project Management Professional certification is highly preferred. Ability to apply project management concepts and best practices and adopt an effective course of action; prepare clear, comprehensive, concise reports; organize and establish workload priorities; work well under pressure; exercise initiative and flexibility; multi-task; and interpret and apply laws, rules, standards, and procedures. Strong meeting facilitation skills. Ability to use good judgment; provide outstanding customer service; and be team oriented, self-motivated, and dependable. Possess a positive attitude.
