Please do not apply if you do not have a current contract of employment with the University.Internal Applicants Only – Lecturer in Philosophy (T&S)The School of English, Communication and Philosophy at Cardiff University is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Philosophy on a fixed term basis on the Teaching and Scholarship pathway. The successful candidate will be able to teach undergraduate and postgraduate modules in feminist philosophy and undergraduate modules in social epistemology and the philosophy of language.Candidates will have the potential for a national academic reputation relevant to the above fields, a record of high-quality publications and teaching, and the enthusiasm and drive to play a key role in enhancing the School’s reputation for impactful research and community engagement.The successful applicant will contribute to teaching provision across Philosophy’s undergraduate and postgraduate programmes within the fields identified above. An ability and willingness to teach in other areas of philosophy will also be advantageous. Bringing engaging and innovative approaches to module delivery and assessment, along with a commitment to delivering excellent student experience, the successful applicant will contribute to the enhancement of distinctive provision at Cardiff. - Demonstrate specialist knowledge and current advancements within academic subject area
- Ability to design, deliver and continuously develop modules across the Schools teaching programmes.
Pastoral, Communication and Team Working * Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex and conceptual ideas clearly and confidently to others using high level skills and a range of media
- The ability to provide appropriate pastoral support to students, appreciate the needs of individual students and their circumstances and to act as a personal tutor.
Other * Proven ability to demonstrate creativity, innovation and teamworking.
Desirable Criteria * An appropriate qualification in teaching at Higher Education level.
- Proven ability to work without close supervision
- Proven ability to adapt to the changing requirements of the Higher Education community.
- Evidence of ability to participate in and develop both internal and external networks and utilise them to enhance the teaching and research activities of the School.
- A willingness to take responsibility for academically related administration.
